Potential benefit of HSR and ECRL to the people living nearby.

Hi peeps! So today i want to share with you the potential benefit of HSR and ECRL to the people living nearby. I know that some of you might think “hmmm, what is HSR and ECRL?”. Before i write more about this, let me share with you what is HSR and ECRL.

High-Speed Rail (HSR) and East Coast Rail Line (ECRL). HSR, the Shinkansen of Malaysia, will run from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, covering seven stations, namely Bandar Malaysia, Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri, before ending in Jurong East in Singapore. Meanwhile, East Coast Rail Line (ECRL) is a proposed railway line connecting Kuala Lumpur to the states of the East Coast Economic Region namely Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. The rail line will carry both passengers and freight from the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia to its East Coast and vice versa.

So, now i will share with you the potential benefit of HSR and ECRL to the people nearby. Benefit HSR and ECRL:

1)     Reduced travel time

As we know, we spend a lot of our time on the road to move from a place to another place. For example, if we drive for KL to Singapore, it will take at least 5 hours to reach there. But with HSR it will only take less than 90 minutes to reach Singapore. Without HSR and ECRL we know that people choose to take flight to reduce their travel time. But they need to spend about one hour to go the KLIA as it’s located far from KL and housing areas and the cost are higher than driving.

2)     Reduced traffic congestion

Other than that, HSR and ECRL can reduce traffic congestion especially on public holidays. As we know that Malaysian tend to travel more on public holidays and they spend most of the time on highways because of traffic congestion. Other than that, they need to spend more on fuel because the traffic congestion as it consumed more fuel when stopping rather than moving. But with HSR and ECRL we can reduce this problem because people will choose public transport more than driving.

3)     Reduced pollution

As we know that car release carbon dioxide that can lead to air pollution. By using HSR and ECRL we can reduce the use of car and reduce the number of pollution caused by car. In fact, we can save our mother earth for our future generation.

4)     Expand job opportunities

It is because they need manpower to run the system and to maintain the services.  So the will be new job opportunities. Other than that, it also can increase international job opportunities because HSR and ECRL both can reduce the travel time to our neighbouring countries.

I hope you guys can get a information from my writings!

SL1M is a targeted programme for youths that aims to increase the employability of unemployed graduates. Through collaborations with Government-linked companies (GLCs) and participating companies from the private sector, this programme provides training and internship for fresh graduates. Employers provide allowance for the participants if they are accepted. Other than that, if the choosen participant performing well in the training, they might be accepted as permanent worker. I was a volunteer for this program in last February in PWTC and i can see that SL1M is a big success because a lot of visitors and companies joining this program.

2) Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia

As student i really love this program because i can save money on my breakfast and lunch! I can eat a balance meal with only RM 4 for lunch and RM 2 for my breakfast! As we know, the cost of food are kinda pricey for us. Usually if i eat chicken and rice it can cost me RM 5 excluding water and we need to pay more for water. But with this program, we only need to spend RM 4 for food plus water! it's really a great deal for us. There are more than 3000 restaurants that participate in this program. You only need to search for restaurant that stated "Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia" on their menu or advertisement board.

Example of Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia.

3) Kad Diskaun Siswa 1Malaysia (KADS1M)

The most waited card for students! Before this, this card only can be used as discount card and starting year 2017, the government change the Bantuan Buku 1Malaysia (BB1M) to this card. So students will be provided with debit card instead of vouchers. For eligible students, the RM250 BB1M assistance will be credited directly into their bank account via KADS1M. Students will need to register with Bank Rakyat to receive the card. Cardholders will also be entitled to discounts from participating businesses. By using this system, student can but things other that books such as computers accessories and stationary.

Other than three programs mentioned above, there are lot of 1Malaysia products. I will list it for you guys :)

Eleventh Malaysia Plan to Increase Income Per Capita

Malaysia’s economy is now in transition. Confronted by the pressures of a contracting globalization and the threat of being caught in the middle-income trap, Malaysian Government unveiled the New Economic Model (NEM) that was needed to transform Malaysia economy by 2020.

One of Malaysian Government initiatives is the Eleventh Malaysia Plan for 2016 to 2020 (also known as Rancangan Malaysia ke-11). The plan sets target and define some economics policies to reach the ultimate goal to make Malaysia a high income economy by 2020. The key target for the whole plan is for Malaysia to reach the advanced economy status, that is to say a national income per capita above USD 15,000.

The six strategies thrusts in Eleventh Malaysia Plan.

Enhancing inclusiveness towards an equitable society
·         To enable all citizens – regardless of gender, ethnicity, socio-economic level, and geographic location – to participate in and benefit from the country’s prosperity

Improving wellbeing for all
·         To enhancing productivity and mobility, while simultaneously strengthening social cohesion and national unity..

Accelerating human capital development for an advanced nation
·         Human capital development is a critical enabler for driving and sustaining Malaysia’s economic growth and supporting the transition of all economic sectors towards knowledge-intensive activities.
·         An efficient and effective labour market is also necessary to attract investments into Malaysia and enable everyone to participate in and enjoy the benefits of economic growth.

Pursuing green growth for sustainability and resilience
·         To pursue development in a more sustainable manner from the start, rather than a more conventional and costly model of ‘grow first, clean up later’.
·         Will ensure that Malaysia’s precious environment and natural endowment are conserved and protected for present and future generations.

Strengthening infrastructure to support economic expansion
·         Infrastructure development ensures that the rakyat have access to essential amenities and services such as transport, communications, electricity and clean water.
·         An efficient infrastructure lowers the cost of doing business, which in turn improves national competitiveness and productivity.

Re-engineering economic growth for greater prosperity
·         To ensure that the aspiration of becoming an advanced economy is attained.
·         A strong and broad-based economy, producing high-value goods and services, will generate the high-paying jobs associated with an advanced nation.
·         The economy must be placed on a solid foundation to withstand external shocks and generate undisrupted prosperity for the people.

Government also identified another six "Game Changers" that will change the country's economic growth and enable it to reach the economic goals. the six "GameChangers" are:

1.      Unlocking the potential of productivity
Broad-based initiatives will be developed and tailored for each sector with targets set and monitored. At the national level, productivity-linked incentives will be introduced and regulatory reforms will be accelerated. At the industry level, industry champions will spearhead industry-specific productivity initiatives, while at the enterprise level, incentives and upskilling programmes will be provided.

2.      Uplifting the B40 households (bottom 40% household income group) towards a middle-class society
Implement strategies to raise the income and wealth ownership of the B40 households, address the increasing cost of living, and strengthen delivery mechanisms for supporting B40 households. The Government will also introduce the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) to ensure that vulnerability and quality of life is measured in addition to income.

3.      Enabling industry-led Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
Encourage industry-led interventions and programmes as they are the stakeholders best placed to ensure that the supply of graduates meet their requirements.

4.      Embarking on green growth
Achieving these aspirations requires a fundamental shift away from a ‘grow first, clean up later’ development model towards one that views resilient, low-carbon, resource-efficient, and socially inclusive development.

5.      Translating innovation to wealth
Focus on strengthening relational capital by improving collaboration among all stakeholders. Innovation will be targeted at both the enterprise and societal levels, instead of previous efforts which focused primarily on national-level initiatives.

6.      Investing in competitive cities
Creating density to increase efficiency; expanding transit-oriented development to enhance mobility; and strengthening knowledge-based clusters to facilitate agglomeration and innovation. These master plans will take into account each city’s competitive advantages, and will be formulated by the respective local authorities in consultation with the private sector and civil society.

As for the conclusion, we can see that there’s a lot of government plans and  efforts to increase income per capita in Malaysia. We just hope all of the plans will be successful in order to increase our living standard. Thank you for reading my blog!
